[ Aortic Area:  S1 is followed by a medium duration, grunt quality, diamond shaped, grade 1-2, systolic murmur.  S2 is followed by a long duration, blowing type, decrescendo shaped, grade 3-1, diastolic murmur; HR = 54 bpm ]  

Notes: Use the bell and the diaphragm of the stethoscope as you have a big variance of frequency to deal with.  We not only have the ability to focus our ears to a certain area, but our ears, as with our eyes, have  a periphery capability. As you focus allow your observation to let in other parts of the whole.
